I like the nightlight keeps Kermit away tactic--I'll probably apply that to one of our phobias one day.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11366323661246879308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1328214691677556425.post-80354550168856900252009-02-02T17:28:00.000-05:002009-02-02T17:28:00.000-05:00It's a delicate balance, huh? With Santa/toothfairy/easter bunny basically I've said when Sarah has asked whether they are real or not, "Well, if you don't believe their real, then they won't come." Partly true. She's 6 and I think our days are numbered.Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14669926707065532828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1328214691677556425.post-77691498696275337932009-02-02T12:19:00.000-05:002009-02-02T12:19:00.000-05:00I can remember when my brothers found out that mea...I can remember when my brothers found out that meat is really animals... they were watching sesame street and came to my mom

bros: did you know some people eat pig! However, I have lied to my son on occasion. I also only tell him things on a "need to know" basis. You cracked me up with your "Friends" reference. "Travis! What are you doing with that gun, Travis? Travis!!!"Lizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04248351772305460335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1328214691677556425.post-48315656778038956722009-02-02T07:55:00.000-05:002009-02-02T07:55:00.000-05:00Funny post, Pam! I did ask my mom when I was 4 and she told me the truth, that he wasn't. I cried and asked her why she lied. She turned it around and asked me what I thought. And, I thought that parents made up Santa because they love their kids. I don't feel like that warped me at all. *Twitch, twitch.*

As far as death, we talk about it fairly openly. Your heart stops beating and your body stops working. It is sad. But, it doesn't happen until you are really old. We talk about how it is sad but we have to remember that you get to go to be with Jesus in heaven. So far, so good with that.

And the birds and the bees...we just talk about it in terms THE Princess can understand. We talk about how when daddies and mommies love eachother the daddy plants a seed in the mommy's tummy and it grows into a baby. We haven't talked much about how this specifically happens. Or how the baby emerges...she just knows that the doctor helps get the baby out. And, that is working for now.

As for eating animals, I just say that we are eating cow or pig or chicken and that is what they are. I grew up on a farm, too, and I helped hunt, skin and prepare meat.Bryssyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18265775437980612879noreply@blogger.com
