Not That There's Anything Wrong With That....

I do some things out of habit. Never thinking of why or how I do them that way. It makes sense to me.

The other day, RM innocently pointed out that I remove dishes from the cupboard from the bottom of the stack instead of from the top "like a normal person." Without giving it a thought, I replied that I didn't want them to be sad because we used the top dishes more often. I wanted equal use. RM looked at me like I had three heads and then told me that dishes don't have feelings.

Right. I knew that. But I am still using the dishes from the bottom of the stack just in case they DO have feelings. Next time I'll tell him it's because I want equal wear. That sounds more normal, don't you think?

While I was pregnant with THE Princess I craved Skittles. That fruity little candy that comes in about five different colors/flavors. Well, I have developed a "scientific method" of eating Skittles. You have to separate them by color. Then eat them by even numbers only (like 2 or 4). And in backwards rainbow color order. Remember the mnemonic Roy G. Biv? Then throw or give away any odd numbers. I'm not even sure how I came up this. I have several other "scientific methods" for eating certain foods, but I don't want to overwhelm you.

I hang my clothes up by color. Roy G. Biv order, of course. They go in my drawers the same way. I am not sure why I have this obsession with the rainbow colors and their order. It's probably just part of my warped psyche. Or maybe it's Roy G. Biv's fault. He's practicing some sort of mind control.

If I think of the outfit I am going to wear the night before or even before I get dressed and then I don't wear it, I have a really bad day. Seriously. Really bad. I call it the, "I Wore the Wrong Outfit Karma." I can change the underwear, that doesn't seem to have any bearing, according to my own very scientific studies. Although it is my personal feeling that underwear should match each other whenever possible. Bonus points if it matches each other AND the outfit you wear.

What it is that makes me come up with this stuff? OCD? ADHD? Restless leg syndrome? Some other acronym? If they make a pill for it, I probably need it. But until I solve this mystery of the universe, make sure you use those bottom plates. I don't want them feeling neglected.

So funny, Bryssy!

And a little sick.

You're like the Rainmom...don't worry, you look nothing like Dustin Hoffman.

I was hoping to hear that everybody does something like this. You know, to make my weirdness a little more normal.

No, but I think Roy G. Biv would be proud!

I must be your polar opposite! I WISH I had more order in my closet. I betcha it looks pretty in there!

I do the SAME thing...lol. I hang my clothes by color and style. (how ironic since I tend to be disorganized) I categorize lucky charms when I eat them. Eating kit-kats and twix also involves a "process."

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! lol

My clothes are all organized in the closet Roy G Biv order. I also have my clothes seperated by long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts, and tank tops. It is much easier to find things that way. The only draw back is that my husband will not touch the laundry. He's afraid he'll put it back in the wrong spot!

Bryssy, are you my long lost sister? YES I do things like this, although they seem so normal to me that I'm having trouble coming up with some examples. The one that does come to mind is how I eat cereal with marshmallows. If all of the marshmallows are the same color, I eat the actual cereal part first, then the marshmallows. It really throws me off if a bite of cereal hides under a marshmallow because then I'm eating it out of order. For cereals with colored marshmallows (particularly Lucky Charms), I eat the cereal first, then the marshmallows according to Roy G. Biv. When they started adding the multi-color marshmallows, I had to add them on at the end. If a cereal has more than one type of multi-colored marshmallow I'm really overwhelmed.

I always reach for the second plate or bowl in the stack (especially if it's in a restaurant), but it's probably because I feel like the top one has been more exposed than the second one.

This is a great post! We love you just the way you are, too!

I am lucky just to get the clothes put away. Many times I am fishing through the clothes basket for a shirt. And they are definitely not in Roy G Biv order. I think the appropriate label for me would be "Out of Order."

I agree with Maria. I wish I was more like you. It sounds so wonderfully organized. In my MIND I am an organized person. One day...

Maybe I can daydream about it in Roy G Biv color.

Am I the only NORMAL person around here, or does the fact that I just take the easiest route to nutrition (i.e. the plate on top and whatever lands in the spoon first) make ME the strange one?!

AM I NORMAL??? What is normal? I've just overused the word normal so it now sounds ABnormal...weird.

I am so relieved! Roy G. Biv influences lives everywhere!! I am breathing an internal sigh of relief that there are more of us. Donna kind of scarred me calling me "Rainmom" this morning. I could write about 3 more posts like this one, all things that I find to be absolutely normal and calming, albiet a little odd. :-)

I buy my underwear at K-Mart. K-Mart. On 3rd. I buy my underwear at K-mart.....

Yep...definitely Restless Leg Syndrome.

And no, I don't have anything better to do because I don't care how my clothes go into the closet. Paul does the laundry!!! Giving me ample time to comment on other people's posts...he, he, he (that sounds like a wicked cackle in my head).

I thought I was weird for the way I eat M&Ms. I eat them two at a time by color - brown, then yellow, then orange, red, blue, and green. This is especially difficult in a movie theater. However, Roy G. Biv does not live in my closet! After reading this post I think maybe I'm not so neurotic. You all win!

ok I do seperate my m&m's by color, and eat them in pairs. although I don't throw out non-matches. I do have to give them a reason to be together. (they are opposites, or christmas colors, or autumn colors etc.)
it's relaxing. I also have my (own personal) crayon box sorted by Roy G Biv
the only problem there is What exactly is the difference between indigo and violet???

however my closet is on the most-recently-used-is-closest-to-the-front (uless its still in the basket)system

I don't think it counts as abnormal, if you post it on your blog. So, you are good. :-)

You know, now that I think about it, there are things I do just out of habit. Maybe I need to do some thinking to determine if it's really the "right" way to do it or even easier.
